How Can Turn off Activate while keeping Reset Movements at 0?

How Can I Turn off Activate keeping Reset Movements at 0?

Using for pitch bend. It's theoretically possible to Reset Movements then carefully un-Activate but this is fiddly and interrupts playing as well as never being entirely successful because my hand will of course always move between button presses - ie Reset Movements then my hand moves again before I can de-Activate. Result being ring is turned off without midi being at zero - every time. I must be overlooking something because I can't see how anyone can use this device if they want to stay in tune.
