Ablton Live and changing presets (live performance workflow)

Hi! I have a question. I was hoping that when using Ableton Live, I would be able to switch between presets to use the ring differently, according to my live score. I noticed that Ableton basically responds to all presents at once, so to speak. Any ideas on how I can streamline that? Is there a way to 'solo' a preset?
